The goal of Bioethanol Enzyme 3R is to significantly reduce the cost of producing bioethanol from cellulosic biomass waste by developing methods to recycle and reuse expensive cellulase enzymes, which are currently too costly for the production of cellulosic ethanol to be commercially viable.

We will achieve this goal by using our patented SiC resin technology to bind and recover the cellulase enzymes on an industrial scale.

We ultimately hope to significantly reduce the cost of cellulosic ethanol production so that the 76 billion litres (2009) of ethanol currently produced from food sources such as corn, wheat and sugarcane, can be converted to bioethanol produced from non-food cellulosic biomass waste, such as corn cobs/stover, sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw and wood waste.
